For Mother’s Day, we asked our au pairs to share what they love about their host moms! Au pair Lea from France, who is doing an extension year with her host family in Georgia after spending a year with them already, had so much to say about her host mom, Christine:
Why do I love my host mom?
As they say, everything happens for a reason and I am so grateful for this person to have come into my life.
When I embarked on this journey, deciding to go live abroad and leave everything behind, she was the first person I talked to. And literally the first host parent I have been in touch with when my profile first got online. She looked enthusiastic, kind, caring, smart and fun… Turns out, she didn’t look like all those things, she definitely is all those things! She made me feel welcomed and at home as soon as I stepped on Georgia ground and has ever since, even during those hard times where we all are sheltered into our houses and far from our loved ones.
We share similar lives and past lives, interests, music tastes, humor, love for food, love for people and relationships, love for life. I have witnessed incredible parenting moments from her for the past year and 3 months that I have been here and I am proud to be part of this experience. She is a mother, a father, a friend, a part-time nurse, a life coach, a family entertainer, a wise guy and a fantastic tennis player. I love how she is absolutely dedicated to her family, dedicated to people she loves, dedicated to be this kind and genuine person everyday, even on cloudy and rainy days. She definitely is the silver lining to my clouds.
